Day 32 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebrations

Wednesday, March 21, Day 32 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebration: The 2018 prayer focus in preparation of our worship of Christ for His death for our sins and the celebration for His resurrection that gives us eternal life.

Verses for the Day:
John 19:7-11 The Jews answered him, “We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God.” Therefore when Pilate heard this statement, he was even more afraid; and he entered into the Praetorium again and said to Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. So Pilate said to Him, “You do not speak to me? Do You not know that I have authority to release You, and I have authority to crucify You?” Jesus answered, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin.”

Prayer for the Day:
Jesus Christ, all power, honor and authority belong to You.  You had authority over Your own life in this moment when the religious and political leaders of Your day felt empowered over You.  You ascended back to Your place of glory, where You reign over the universe.  Reign over me.  May I give to You Your rightful place of authority over my life both now and forever.

Day 31 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebrations

Tuesday, March 20, Day 31 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebration: The 2018 prayer focus in preparation of our worship of Christ for His death for our sins and the celebration for His resurrection that gives us eternal life.

Verses for the Day:
John 19:1-6 Pilate then took Jesus and scourged Him.  And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and put a purple robe on Him;  and they began to come up to Him and say, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and to give Him slaps in the face.  Pilate came out again and said to them, “Behold, I am bringing Him out to you so that you may know that I find no guilt in Him.”  Jesus then came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold, the Man!”  So when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out saying, “Crucify, crucify!” Pilate said to them, “Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in Him.”

Prayer for the Day:
Lord Jesus, they should have said these words in an act of worship, “Hail, King of the Jews!”  Instead, they mocked You and mistreated You.  You fulfilled Your divine purposes in this courageous act, “He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried;”  Now, Lord Jesus, I praise You for who You are and what You have accomplished.

Day 30 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebrations

Monday, March 19, Day 30 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebration: The 2018 prayer focus in preparation of our worship of Christ for His death for our sins and the celebration for His resurrection that gives us eternal life.

Verses for the Day:
Luke 23:1-5 Then the whole body of them got up and brought Him before Pilate. And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.” So Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And He answered him and said, “It is as you say.” Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no guilt in this man.” But they kept on insisting, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching all over Judea, starting from Galilee even as far as this place.”

Prayer for the Day:
Lord Jesus, You are King of the Jews and Lord of my heart.  You are the rightful, eternal sovereign.  You remained faithful even in the presence of such evil.  You bore our reproach and You took on our rejection by submitting Yourself to these worldly authorities.  You took my place so that I might be with You forever.
