Day 5 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebrations

Thursday, February 22, Day 5 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebration: The 2018 prayer focus in preparation of our worship of Christ for His death for our sins and the celebration for His resurrection that gives us eternal life.

Verses of the Day:
John 13:1-5 Now before the Feast of the Passover, Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot to betray Him, Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come forth from God and was going back to God, got up from supper, and laid aside His garments; and taking a towel, He girded Himself. Then He poured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

Prayer for the Day:
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your love and Your humility.  You loved us to the very end.  Your Father has given all things into Your hands.  I confess that all things are Yours and because of that, I am Yours.

Day 4 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebration

Wednesday, February 21, Day 4 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebration: The 2018 prayer focus in preparation of our worship of Christ for His death for our sins and the celebration for His resurrection that gives us eternal life.

Verses of the Day:
Isaiah 53:10-12  But the Lord was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, and the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand. As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, as He will bear their iniquities. Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the treasure with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors.

Prayer for the Day:
Lord Jesus, You are the Righteous One sent from God.  Your righteous life and Your death has purchased my salvation.  You are our treasure, both now and forever.  We are Your reward, both now and forever.

Day 3 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebration

Tuesday, February 20, Day 3 of the 40 Days of Prayer, 1 Day of Celebration: The 2018 prayer focus in preparation of our worship of Christ for His death for our sins and the celebration for His resurrection that gives us eternal life.

Verses of the Day:
Isaiah 53:7-9 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth. By oppression and judgment He was taken away; And as for His generation, who considered that He was cut off out of the land of the living for the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due? His grave was assigned with wicked men, yet He was with a rich man in His death, because He had done no violence, nor was there any deceit in His mouth.

Prayer for the Day:
Heavenly Father, the world abandoned Your Son.  The world despised Him and forsook Him.  The whole world viewed Him as rejected by You.  Yet we see that it was Your sovereign plan that Christ would willingly die for us.  I deserved Your judgment, but Christ took the punishment that was due for me.  May we be prayerfully and faithfully aware of this amazing grace as we prepare our hearts for worship and service.
